Components:

45x Ab-conjugated beads (S5P12 - mouse IFN-beta/IFNB ab-bead). PN: B211233A. One vial containing 100 µL of anti-mouse IFN-beta/IFNB conjugated to AimPlex Bead S5P12.

25x Biotin-detection Ab (Mouse IFN-beta/IFNB Biotin-dAb). PN: B211233B. One vial containing 100 µL of biotinylated anti-mouse IFN-beta/IFNB.

Lyophilized Standard - Mouse IFN-beta/IFNB. PN: B211233S. One vial containing lyophilized recombinant mouse IFN-beta/IFNB.

Application: Optimal antibody pair and antigen standard for assaying mouse IFN-beta/IFNB. To be used in conjunction with the AimPlex Mouse/Rat Basic Kit (PN: P200201) and a diluent kit. Refer to the AimPlex Multiplex Immunoassay User Manual and kit inserts for the assay procedure.

Storage:  2-8 C in the dark.

Important: Sodium azide forms explosive compounds with heavy metals. These products contain <0.05% (w/w) azide which with repeated contact with lead and copper commonly found in plumbing drains may result in the buildup of shock sensitive compounds. Dispose in accordance with regulations from your institute.

Description:

Interferon-beta is one isoform of type I interferon. It is secreted by many types of cells including macrophages, fibroblasts, and osteoblasts. Recombinant interferon beta potentially has therapeutic abilities in treating chronic hepatitis B, when given intramuscularly. It is also used for treating patients with relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis to reduce the frequency of relapses and slow the progression of MS. In patients with neuromyelitis optica, however, IFN-β is ineffective and may actually cause harm. The mechanism that results in such different reactions for such similar diseases, is unclear.
